This is a Mars Ultor Respecter Account
This is a Mars Ultor — Mars the Avenger — respecter account. Nietzsche diagnosed what we already know today, that “God is dead.” Now among the Christian true believers, the faith is strong. But the Christians, along with the palefaces, are disprivileged in the west. If you’re Christian, don’t hate Nietzsche for saying this. He was only diagnosing a problem we see clearly today. In his time, it was only in its infancy. BAP said on podcast once that the solution to this gay age we live in is religion, so if you’re Christian you must look to create a new manly denomination to retake power.
Christian or not, learning about the pagan gods is valuable. There are lessons learned by our ancestors that get passed down through culture, myths, and religion. The Roman gods get the bad rap of being ripped off from the Greek counterparts, but this may be just more liberal mocking of religion. There were many Roman gods. You could say the Romans saw nature as being moved by divine power. There was even a god of the dung heap. The nature of the god Mars is primordial to the Roman culture.
Mars is the Roman counterpart to the Greek god Ares. Ares was loathed by the Greeks. He represented the ugliness of war, the wrath and bloodlust of the warrior. His sons — who fought at his side during battle — were called fear and panic. Mars in his inception into Roman culture was different. He wasn’t the terrible and shameful god Ares was to the Greeks. Hell, the Roman origin story puts the Roman God of War as the father of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome.
The Nature of Mars
The meaning of the name Mars is martial which means the character suggested of a warrior. Where Ares was the pure bloodlust of the warrior, Mars also an agricultural guardian to the Romans. He was the epitome of the Roman phrase, “if you want peace, prepare for war.” Mars is associated with marital savagery and the wild woodlands. His origins were as both of a thunderer like Zeus or Thor and a god of the wild. He existed beyond the boundaries of men, guarding the perimeter. Later on, other gods took over the roles of the storm and fertility.
The symbol of Mars is the spear and shield, which you also see in the symbol we use to designate the man in modern culture. He’s seen more as a defender and protector of men unlike his Greek counterpart who is the bloodlust of battle. Mars is manliness. He comes into being when you train and prepare for war. He is the savagery of battle. Mars holds off nature to protect the people and their crops. The animals associated with Mars is the woodpecker, the wolf, and the bear.
One of the greatest rituals done to Mars was called devotio, from which we get the word devotion. This ritual is performed by a Roman General who wants to assure his victory. He secured this victory by sacrificing not only the lives of the enemy, but his own. Honor and glory are more important than just living long in the eyes of great men. If you’re a man after greatness, power, and glory, you should pay your respect to Mars. Be warned, Mars is not a god you can just pray to. You may gain his favor through action only.
