You don’t realize it today, for the societies we’ve built for ourselves are quite comfortable in comparison to nature, but we’re all engaged in the true struggle: the fight for survival. Many might claim this fight for survival doesn’t exist anymore. Mankind has “won.” We’ve moved beyond it. As Fukuyama said, we are at the “end of history.” But I counter with my best Jonathan Bowden voice, “history never ends.” The fight for survival involves us all and you ignore it at your own peril.
Man must return to the frontier and test himself against nature. This will allow him and the species to diversify(the real diversity lol) and grow stronger. It will take us out of the precarious position of having all our eggs in one basket. The main obstacle preventing this great expansion is owned space. The earth is “accounted for.” You are presented with two paths, neither one is seen as ideal.
Peoples have organized into nation states, many of which are multi-ethnic. It’s leaders aren’t invested in the nation state so much as the global economy. They want money and power. They aren’t interested in the fight for survival. It’s not their problem. If you are to make it their problem, you present them with what Elon Musk calls the “great filter.” Will you resolve to nuclear annihilation in your attempt to master new space?
The other path was attempted by the United States, but only in its opposition to the Soviet Union in the Cold War. The space race or rather the domination of the sky. The space race is the next step for mankind. It’s where we must go, but with the domination of nation states over the earth, it cannot happen. You put your resources into expanding into space and your homeland will be conquered in its weakened state. This is human nature. No, the first step is do what no people have ever done: the conquest of the earth which takes you back to Elon’s Great Filter.
What is the end game? This conundrum has led to the stagnation of mankind. Nothing seems to happen anymore. Sure, if you watch the news, the world seems to be going into overdrive, but all you have to do is examine the 2022 War in Ukraine. The United States clearly is digging it’s dirty hands into the conflict, but neither the USA or the Russian Federation want to take it to the next level. Do both sides have too much to lose? Has the innovation necessary to take mankind to the next level just hasn’t arrived yet?
I don’t have the answers to these questions or to Musk’s Great Filter. I will say that the nation state is unlikely to conquer the earth. Lee Kuan Yew presented the best reason why, “In a multiethnic polity, ethnic politics take precedence over everything else.” These countries got too many problems at home that prevent them from entering the true struggle. Until you can step over them, mankind will continue to stagnate, continue to move closer to destruction. The reality however, is we must move back into the frontier as a race to find a way out. To conquer.
The power of the frontier.
The frontier is responsible for the growth and expansion of mankind. Every time you’ve thrown man into this unowned space, he grows far beyond expectations. You can find evidence of this in our experience on the frontier in the New World. As a people, we expanded from a few colonies on the east coast all the way to the Californian shores in inside a hundred years. A little after this event, you have the United States becoming a world power and then, a superpower after two “World Wars.” Now — there is more to the equation than just “go to the frontier” as the Indians we conquered had been around a long time, but weren’t able to arrive on the world stage.
You can speculate on the reasons. Perhaps, it’s a question of IQ. Maybe it had something to do with the Christian Universalism that swept through Europe. It can also be it’s something we’re good at, that we’ve done before during the Indo-European expansions. Whatever the case, the people going into the new frontier have to be of the same race and men of race. Pierre van den Berghe believed that ethnicity itself was the driver of a people and between people of the same race is greater social cohesion. We see those of the same race as extensions of kin.
No amount of leftism will change biology. The crazy deranged and corrupt scientists of this age may try to argue otherwise, but nature always wins. You can’t escape nature. If you don’t learn the doctrines of nature and strive for superiority, nature will sew the seeds of your destruction. When you follow the doctrines of nature, you grow the power of your race and the species. For this to start, to return to the frontier, the race must first gain a foothold in the new land. It must build the foundation.
It cannot be understated the power of the frontier upon man as a revitalizing force. Americans grew taller, stronger, than their European counterparts. They developed their own culture and rites. A ten year old Thomas Jefferson was marched out into the wild by his father and left out there, to see if he could survive. That experience is why the American today considers himself a race apart from the European. The sons of the frontiersmen were able to cultivate the land in a way that made the United States a superpower in our own time.
How could one find the frontier in our time?
I don’t think the frontier is so far away as it seems. BAP’s spoken of expeditions to Africa, for example. Even that might seem far. Ultimately, we first need a foundation. We have to think like a race again. I would argue the frontier still exists here and now in America. Yes, the space is “owned,” but it is not owned by us.
You won’t go anywhere without a foundation, a launching pad. A culture of our own that gives birth to new warrior disciples. This is perhaps, the first necessary step: the reconquest of our own country. There must be a rallying point or several rallying points where our people are resavaged again to pursue the Great Work. How is this returning to the frontier? Well, you cannot expect to succeed in the frontier if you have not first been resavaged. To demonstrate this, we must talk about the Ancient Greeks.
Before their culmination in the conquests of Alexander the Great, the Greeks were primarily warring city-states. Life was savage and brutal. There were cities that didn’t make it. Their men killed. Women raped and/or put into slavery. There was always distrust and war between neighbors. So much so that Lycurgus the Lawgiver made it a point for the Spartans to avoid quarrel with their neighbors lest their neighbors figure out how to defeat their phalanx as what eventually happened with their conflict with the Thebans.
The Ancient Greeks sharpened their craft and their barbarism within Greece itself before they ever set out for an empire. Spengler in his The Decline of the West, makes the argument that Faustian man was more manly than the Apollonian Greek. That he set his sights far beyond his home toward the frontier and what’s possible while the Greek only cared about his home. Everything else was barbarian. This was unfair. Certainly, the average Greek man was probably more athletic and stronger than his Faustian counterpart. His existence was different. They were closer to the primitive, closer to extinction itself.
They valued home and hearth more because they knew on the next day it might not be there any longer. They had yet to achieve the kind of mastery of their space that Faustian man had. They lived in a condition of barbarism as a rule. It’s only been our mastery of the land that has won us the ability to look beyond, to what’s next. They had enemies on all sides and at all times. They had to be mighty and warlike. This we must do. Our land is full of many races and they must be used to sharpen our own, or get out of the way.
You have to master the space in front you before you can master what’s beyond you.
Excellent piece. The conquest of space is absolutely essential, not for economic benefit alone, but as a spiritual duty. Only on the sharp-edged periphery between savage wilderness and civilized comfort can man become what he truly is. There is no wilderness more savage than space, no civilization more comfortable than the one we've built; the contrast between the two will breed gods and monsters.
I believe it's precisely for this reason that space colonization has been slow-walked by the managerial state. The occupational class fears what might come of it.
As you say it will not be states that accomplish this great work. It will be private groups, men of vision and means - Musk is the prototype but there will be more following him. The New World also was conquered mainly by ambitious men acting on their own initiative, in the nominal name of their kings but largely with their own funding and for their own reasons.

The focus on race just isn't compatible with Americanism. Of course in group preference is a thing, but you can forge in group preferences. I don't think the assumption that there is an innate sense that people of the same race are kin.
