From the perspective of a nominal Christian, the idea of creating a religion solely as a unifying idea is kind of horrifying. From a tactical standpoint, the first thing I thought of is the goddess Roma; the divine personification of the city of Rome itself. Perhaps we need a Cult of Columbia, the divine personification of America and the West?
