Beware of False Idols
I’ve spoken on false idols before, I believe on twatter, but it must be emphasized again for effect. Beware of false idols. The masculinity sphere is just like the elderly demographic in America. The elderly are often preyed upon and taken advantage of by scammers. They aren’t well versed with technology and all the creative ways to get scammed out of your money. The right is so far from hope that they act in a similar manner. Reaching out for any light that might lead them out of the darkness.
Men are desperate for a messiah. Be on the lookout for these false idols. There’s nothing wrong with selling your services online, but make sure the men you’re buying from are worth a shit. Honor is wanting in our society and if your “guru” doesn’t have it, avoid and shun. There’s a phenomenon among moderns that we must stomp out. It started with Star Wars and had only gotten worse since.
The actor who played Obi Wan Kenobi grew to despise the Star Wars franchise because the fans became obsessed with him. He was an old school actor and watching these fans worship him as some idol was sad and pathetic. Today it’s the norm. Most of these men don’t realize they’re worshipping false idols and when push comes to shove, these false idols show you who they really are.
It’s hard to keep the faith when a good chunk of these men fly to the aid of their false idol. This is what’s going to happen and you have to expect it. Like they said in the Matrix, they just ain’t ready to be unplugged. They’ll fight to uphold the very false idol who’s scamming them. It is what it is.
Masculinity can be explained a thousand different ways, but you know it when you see it.
Masculinity is topic I enjoy talking about. Increasing manliness is something every man should be doing. There isn’t enough testosterone in the world which is why we have these lame leftists running around rabid. Recent events have left me somewhat at a loss for words as with all these “gurus” out there being exposed for the frauds they are.
If you’re trying to be good at being a man, have some standards in the men you look to for knowledge, wisdom, or information. If your “neo masculinity guru” is gay, does it matter to you? If they’ve done gay porn, does it matter? If they get called out and they back down, does it matter to you? Unfortunately, in a sphere made to improve men, all the above have occurred. Most of these “neo masculinity gurus” might have good intentions or they’re just out for the paycheck.
If you’re trying to be good at being a man, your best bet is to start with the classics before you start seeking out some guru. Read The Iliad. Read the Epic of Gilgamesh. Read about Genghis Khan. Might is Right. Learn about Nietzsche’s Will to Power. Read about great men like Caesar, Nathan Bedford Forrest, or Ernst Junger. Chesty Puller had a copy of Caesar’s Commentaries with him at all times.
Much of the allure of these “neo masculinity gurus” is they try to make masculinity work in this lame modern world. A lot of men don’t have good father figures to show them the path. Their takes might be interesting, but who is the man behind the persona? This is why it’s so important to acquaint yourself with the classic heroic epics. Get yourself an idea of what it means to be a man.
Many of the traditions passed down to us from the ancients in the forms of religion are also valuable. The gods are aspects of human nature. Read Apollodorus’s account of Heracles. There’s more to the man then the twelve labors. If you’re Christian, read the Bible. It’s not as this crippled nanny state claims, that our ancestors were bigoted and backwards, they had a powerful understanding of nature and they want to hide from us.
There’s a reason why these religions, traditions, and heroic epics keep getting passed down from one generation to the next. There’s real value in them and they’ve helped countless men rise to face the struggles of their time.
A big part of being a man is physical culture.
The world didn’t start becoming clear to me until I actually met resistance. Pushed my limits. In this modern world, it’s easy to forget, but we’re also physical creatures who got to the top of the food chain with our brawn as well as our brains. You have to move. Test your strength. Take a punch. When you do this, your mind begins to become aware of nature.
Lift weights. Bodybuild and strength train. Run. Go on hikes. Get back into nature. Take up the martial arts and test your will against another man. As Durden said, “how much do you really know about yourself if you haven’t been punched in the face?” Physical culture is a part of the human condition. Studies have shown kids do better in school when they’re also physically active. You don’t have to choose between brains and brawn.
The biggest lesson I got from physical culture came long before I read heroic epics or sought out gurus. I realized if you wanted something in this world, no one was going to give it to you. You had to take it. If you want muscle, you have to build it. If you want to be good at being a man, physical culture is paramount. It’s where you begin. Until next time, beware of false idols.
