Lately, I’ve been putting up many essays on the warrior religion, but RESAVAGER is about the resavaging of man and so we must talk about Virtu. Religion is a means of instilling customs and traditions into a people. It’s a meme that remains as relevant today as any other time in history. Where does religion fall on the hierarchy of values for man? It is high, but not as high as WAR and FIRE or put another way, STRENGTH and SURVIVAL. If you look back to the beginning of mankind, you’ll find that man first figured out how to make weapons(stone tech) and tamed fire before language came about.
Religion likely followed the development of language. Strength and survival supersede even religion. As I’ve said in other essays, this is built into our DNA. Here in the modern day we have a word to describe the traits of good men. We call it virtue, but this word has lost all meaning. The leviathan takes words that resonates with men and turns them gay. Pride is such a word.
Virtue is not a word you’ll hear me use here often because I don’t want to confuse anyone as to what I’m talking about. It comes from the Latin word Virtus(pronounced: weer-tous), which the Ancient Romans used to describe manliness. There may be some connection with the Greek word Arete, but Arete for the Greeks meant excellence. The Romans were a hard warrior people, so Virtus was seen not as we see manliness today, but in a primordial, militaristic way. A man was a warrior and hunter. Hell — in the legion, he was also a construction worker.
Before Virtus becomes the modern virtue, the word became Virtu(pronounced: veer-too). Virtu was an Italian word meaning POWER and the concept of Virtu was developed by Niccolo Machiavelli. Machiavelli defined Virtu as the qualities desirable for a man like his martial spirit and ability to conquer. Virtu meant courage and ruthlessness in the pursuit of great tasks. He also said the man of Virtu must also be willing to “do evil when necessary.” You must not look at the word evil as we do today with the Christian duality, rather understand, that evil is perspective. Your enemies will happily do evil if it means destroying you and you see it in the actions of the leftist. You must be able to do the same to them.
The character of the Aryan Warlord
Even today in a culture that’s completely separated from our ancestors, we know what to look for in a great warlord. The warlord sets the tone for his people and Virtu was often directed at the leader of men. It can’t be understated that we still know a great warlord when we see them. A great Aryan Warlord is like a campfire, providing heat and power to those gathered around. If you read Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, you see even he knows how a just warlord acts. When Gandalf frees Theoden from the grasp of Saruman, the King rewards the wizard with a gift of his choosing, save for the King’s own sword which he resolved to take vengeance with.
Theoden gifted his own steed and lord of the horses, Shadowfax to Gandalf for his service. The Aryan Warlord that is great and just, gives his wealth to those who follow him. This act builds trust and loyalty between the warlord and his war band. It’s a sign of nobility. You saw it in the generalship of Genghis Khan. So too, in Julius Caesar. I would say you even saw Trump try to do this for the American people, but Trump lacked a trait necessary for men of Virtu: ruthlessness. It’s imperative, like the Aryan Warlord, you understand the workings of nature and don’t get bogged down in rights and wrongs.
There is no universal right and wrong or good and evil. Nietzsche does powerful job of explaining this in his works. What’s good and right and just is what forwards the goals of your people. What’s evil and wrong and unjust is the actions of your enemies against you. The thoroughly Christian concept of guilt is why we today act as we do. A warrior religion and culture must abide by an honor and shame, not guilt. To give your guilt credence is to fence in the horizons of your potential.
The spirit of the man that’s needed.
We exist in a time where the path isn’t known to us. All the powerful thinkers on our side can only diagnose the problem, not provide solutions. We harken back to times where the hero simply beheads the monster, drives a knife through the tyrant, but if you tried to do this today, nothing will happen. You can pick out who you see as the big bad and if you take him out, not much will change. Some other elite will likely just pick up where he left off. There are no straight answers.
In the Warrior Religion Project, I make the argument that a warrior religion should exile itself. Get off the world stage and return to nature. Figure out how to decouple oneself as much as possible from the system. This will help make a man strong again. It won’t have much effect on our situation today but perhaps, help create the man who can change the world in the way we want it changed. The spirit of the man that’s needed is closest to a kind of Nietzschean Howardism. A man with his eye on undying fame in the Greek sense, who will crush his enemies in a ruthless and unrelenting nature. A man who will not be phased by the spirit of our age and will act on a level above the elite.
What’s needed is a man of power who will break the wills of the powers that be. A man who can do so without facing the consequences of this world order. What good is taking out one of the five hundred names when you’ll just get locked up or killed afterwards? One out of five hundred is a very minor disruption in the grand scheme. The sights must be set higher. The man of Virtu must find the path.
As you stated, the ruthless pursuit of goals isn’t the only defining characteristic of Virtus. It is more than that.
