Religion governs culture. It may seem that we live in a “godless age” with liberal democracy triumphing over the old Christian order here in the United States, but we very much still live under the sway of religion. Christians will point at the “godless” leftists and claim they need Christianity. The leftists however, very much have their own religion and belief system. It’s just not Christianity. Oswald Spengler in his last book, The Hour of Decision, calls Marxism for what it is: a religion. Marx didn’t intend for it to be so, but sometimes your creations take on life of their own. Marxism in its current flavor is the prevailing religion in the west today and leftists show all the religious fervor of their Puritan forefathers.

Oswald Spengler is very much an under appreciated thinker for many reasons. His most known work is a two part book called The Decline of the West which is a massive work and undertaking. It’s not an easy work to digest, especially for the modern man who’s used to spending his time playing video games or watching TV. This work is very much foundational to right wing thought. In The Decline of the West, Spengler shows how societies are super-organisms he calls cultures. Cultures — Spengler says — have lifespans of around 1,000 years. Near the end of their lifespans, the culture degrades into civilization.

The religion governing our society today is a culture-destroying religion. Liberal democracy is as Spengler says, “the will-to-nothing.” It’s purpose is to destroy the vital force of man, to make the west ashamed of what it is, and provide no answers for the Great Task before us. It’s designed to undo the work of the great men who came before us and undo the stern old traditions that held us together. And it’s done it’s job well. Life will not go on until man finds a way to overcome the yoke put on him by liberalism.

By that same token, you must understand that a culture — or a civilization — is driven forward into the unknown future by its religion. Religion is the means in which you turn the wheel of mankind. It’s a part of human nature that’s been around longer than the written word. It’s the vessel in which you drive culture toward the stars or into the dirt. The Ancient Greeks used the Olympian sky god religion to conquer the Mother Earth cults that came before them. Christianity did to Roman paganism what leftism is doing to Christianity today. From our “progress” as a species, each religion has to this point pushed mankind further. It’s cemented our domination of the planet.
