The men we remember, the men who transcend time, who’s legends become immortal were men of devotion. These elite men were devoted to — as Ernst Junger said in Storm of Steel — greatness, power, and glory.
You must understand that religion is a piece of human nature. Atheism is a religion, even science has become religion. All the low human religions we rail about today are religions for many. What you believe matters. These ideologies may have not started as religions, but humans make them so.
The left often scoffs at Christianity. How can Christians follow their hokey religion and traditions when faced with the “superior” scientific method? If it’s not affirmed by the scientific method it’s not real. True believers denounce anything that runs contrary to their religion as heresy. The superior religion — meaning the one that is most intolerant— will win.
The men who turned wheel of mankind worshipped great men and war gods.
Alexander the Great thought he was descended from Achilles. The Spartans believed themselves descended from Hercules. Mike Tyson believed he was cut from the same cloth as an Alexander or Achilles. Some may call such claims delusion and indeed, maybe it was “delusion.” But they did become great.
What they call delusion was called irrational self-confidence by Heartiste. Cus D’Amato taught it to Tyson through self affirmations and mindset training. There’s great power that comes from irrational self confidence. Over a long enough time period, the irrationally self confident become true believers of their own worth.
It’s absolutely necessary for men to learn about great men and war gods. Use them as models for greatness. The offer insight into nature and reveal the path forward. The Romans made statues of their heroes, gods, and ancestors to be reminded up their greatness. To use for motivation. We should do all learn from this.
It’s possible many of the great men we remember believed themselves descended from gods and heroes. Perhaps, their accomplishments confirm their divine lineage. Perhaps, if you stopped long enough you could hear the war gods summoning you to arms. There is an oak tree beside my house. This is a sign. Thor fights by my side. You must look for the influence of the gods in your own life. Also, study great men and heroes. Learn from their legends.
Before his last fight, Tyson said “the gods of war have summoned me again.” They’re sending you signs, are you listening?
It’s only delusion if you lose.
Might Makes Right shall be the whole of the law.
